Mikayla, also known as Dilymardiya or Jawanjibina, belongs to two communities in the Northern Territory – she is a descendant of the Ngarinyman tribe who are freshwater people, and a descendant of the Yanyuwa tribe who are saltwater people. 

Walking in two worlds, she found inspiration from her culture and traditions to navigate the world today, which enabled her to build on her expertise through her upbringing and the western views she experienced outside of her community.

Mikayla has worked for FNMA since 2019, starting out as a trainee administration officer, and then up skilled on her expertise through, a project support officer role in 2021.

Currently, Mikayla is now expanding her knowledge in the media sector as the Membership & Executive Assistant Support Officer at First Nations Media Australia.
