Karen Paterson (nee’ Dorante) is a Wagadam/Daurareb woman from the Torres Strait. She has been involved in media for over 30 years and is currently the general manager of the National Indigenous Radio Service, based in Brisbane. During her career, Karen has worked in various roles at 98.9FM (Triple A Murri Country), Radio 4MW and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Karen is an advocate for the Indigenous community radio sector and serves as a director on First Nations Media Australia. She also serves as a director for Torres News and current chair of the Murri School in Brisbane. Karen began her radio journey as a volunteer with Radio 4MW on Thursday Island.
