It has been a busy tail end of the year for the inDigiMOB project. Digitial inclusion activities continue in five Alice Springs town camps, Yuendumu and Yuelamu, with more communities coming on-line in late 2017 and early 2018.
The inDigiMOB project kicked-off in 2016 and the team has been steadily working away throughout this year. The project is all about improving digital inclusion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote Northern Territory communities. It does this by forming partnerships with communities and local organisations and making available a suite of activities and workshops that communities can take advantage of according to their needs. In recent months, new communities have been exposed to the inDigiMOB project. Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation signed up as an inDigiMOB partner and are looking to employ a local Digital Access Worker and casual Yolngu Digital Mentors in Maningrida. Ntaria Women’s Shed also experienced some targeted workshops with David Nixon of transmediaNT and created some great safety video clips.
inDigiMOB is also continuing to build its suite of digital literacy resources to bridge the digital divide. These handy tips and instruction sheets aim to help residents with anything from how to save phone battery life and use less data, to how to avoid phone and internet scams.
You can download the inDigiMOB app now through the Google Play or Apple app stores on your phone or smart device (just find the Search box and type ‘inDigiMOB’).
Stay tuned to hear more about inDigiMOB in 2018.
