Community TV Broadcasting under threat

"Australia’s community television networks could be shunted across to the internet, as the government considers the future of digital TV spectrum earmarked for a fourth commercial channel."

IRCA supports the community television broadcasters in their bid to retain access to free-to-air digital spectrum and not be relegated to on-line delivery.  This would mean that audiences have to pay to access community television. Community broadcasting is an important and established part of the media landscape within Australia.  It should have dedicated radio and television spectrum to provide an alternative to commercial and public media.
